9to5 Georgia Hosts Lobby Day at the Georgia Dome

Atlanta, GA-– 9to5 Georgia will host their annual Lobby Day at the Georgia Capitol on Tuesday, February 13th, 2024 from 8 am to 1 pm. The organization will be joined by members from all over the state representing all generations. Women and children will travel to the Capitol from Albany, Macon, Augusta, and a bus full of 40 women will also be coming up from Savannah.

Throughout the lobby day, 9to5 members will share their stories with lawmakers and advocate for paid leave, workplace protections, accessible childcare, housing justice and more.

“Lobby day is important to me because I would love to see the state increase the number of families to receive CAPS to help get them back to the workforce. Also to help childcare providers like myself to be paid fairly to provide quality care. The most important years are from birth to three years of age for healthy social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development”, said Tiniki Harris, a family childcare provider in Savannah.

Martha Lee, a parent and family, friend, and neighbor (FFN) caregiver, also shared her excitement about joining Lobby Day, “I am a mother of seven, and I have faced many challenges while raising my children. I have struggled to find support and quality care for them due to financial constraints. However, I am now excited to be a part of a cause that will bring positive changes to my life and the lives of my grandchildren.”

“A well woman in Georgia deserves to survive her pregnancy, afford childcare, send her kids to high-quality public schools, go to the doctor, not be harassed at work, use her sick days to care for loved ones, and be paid fairly,” said Jasmine Bowles, Executive State Director of 9to5 Georgia.
