VICTORY: Georgia Organizers for Active Transformation (GOAT) Celebrates Senator Warnock’s Re-Election to U.S. Senate

Atlanta, GA – Today, Georgia Organizers for Active Transformation (GOAT)declared victory following reports that Senator Raphael Warnock has been re-elected to the U.S. Senate.

“We are excited to know that Senator Raphael Warnock will continue to represent the people of Georgia in the U.S. Senate,” said Ashley Robinson, Executive Director of Progress Georgia. “For several weeks, the eyes of the country focused solely on Georgia, and our state made history. This win was no easy feat considering the obstacles thrown our way to suppress votes from BIPOC communities, but this win reminds us that we can continue to defeat those who would attempt to turn the clock back on us, and continue to pave a road of progress for Georgia’s future.”

During the runoff period, canvassers with the Georgia Organizers for Active Transformation (GOAT)  coalition knocked on over 5.4 million doors across Georgia to help turn out the vote to help generate record turnout, despite a shortened early vote period and laws like S.B. 202 which aimed to suppress the votes of Black and brown communities.

“The people of Georgia made their voices heard and chose a champion of civil and human rights,” said Andrea Young, Executive Director of the ACLU of Georgia. “We are committed to making voting easier for every citizen and continuing our fight against S.B. 202.”

“The Asian American Advocacy Fund has led a comprehensive voter engagement strategy to reach AAPI voters,” said Vyanti Joseph, Organizing Director, Asian American Advocacy Fund. “Once again, our voters showed up and showcased our political power. With 51 Democratic Senate seats we can make strides on the issues that matter most to our communities such as Immigration, education, and affordable healthcare. We look forward to working alongside Reverend Warnock to ensure that all Georgia families can thrive.”
